When you are in deep “stuff”…

“People are anxious to improve their
circumstances, but are unwilling to
improve themselves. That is why they
remain bound.” – JAMES ALLEN

Where are you right now in your life? Are you where you want to be? Well, if not my question to you is why not. I am sure that like most people who are not in control of their lives are waiting for something. Waiting for a “lucky break” or for someone else to change their behaviour towards you or for

Most people wait for the environment to give them the experiences. The truth however is that you don’t need the environment. You are the maker and creator of what you feel. This is the only thing over which you have control. You cannot control your environment or circumstances, but you can absolutely change “you” in these circumstances. The actual world you live in is not really real because life is really lives in your “head”; in your psychology and how you interpret and experience events, circumstances and sensations.

It is not just in perfect conditions that you thrive but often, you will find that it is the tough situations and the challenging circumstances that are blessings in disguise. It calls on you to push past what you can comfortably deal with and in doing so you become more. If you keep waiting for life to hand you what you want you might wait a very long time. You will remain bound and feel like the events of your life is controlling you. The key to a better life is a better you. Don’t try and change circumstances – change yourself, even if it is just your perception and you will be amazed at how freely life will give back to you.

Remember that life was meant to be enjoyed and you are meant to live in absolute bliss and freedom. Your natural state, the state you are born in is one of peace and abundance and joy and affluence. Your nature is, was and will always be “lifeward” wanting to restore this blissful state that you were born into. Just let go of your need to control the outside world. Turn back to who you really are which is that internal and eternal part of you that seeks only to be free, loved and joyous.

When will Now be a good time?

“I have been impressed with the urgency of doing.

Knowing is not enough; we must apply.

Being willing is not enough; we must do.”

- LEONARDO DA VINCI

Leonardo Da Vinci, arguable one of the greatest artist of all time, was known for being a super achiever. Most of us know him as the “artist” but “back then” he was actually better known as an inventor and scientist. No matter what you want to call him, what this man achieved in one lifetime is absolutely extraordinary. His ability to use his creative genius and expressing it is still admired by artists, scientist and designers of all ages today.

The ability to take immediate action on your ideas is a characteristic that is common in all people of greatness. Creating a sense of urgency is something that you can do to help you not only achieve more but enjoy greater levels of fulfilment in your life. The challenge that we all face is that we get inspired; we feel the need to do, be or have something and in that moment we have a lot of drive and determination. This is the state of mind and emotions in which all great things are created or achieved.

The challenge however is that most people don’t take the all important step which is to act on this inspiration. The reason is not a lack of ability or a lack of resources but because of the law of diminishing intent. If you don’t act on your ideas while you feel inspired then the desire and the intention will start to fade and you will even start to doubt the very nature of your inspiration. You’ll start finding all sorts of excuses and stories as to why you “can’t” follow through and do it.

The key however is to develop the habit of creating a sense of urgency. Successful people know how important it is to act while your emotions are high and while the desire is strong. All desires fade over time. If something is not urgent it’s not real enough for you to do something about it. Creating a sense of urgency is not some scientific formula. You can do it simply by turning your focus to the immediate consequences of your action and your inaction(s).

A very effective “rule” that I modelled from Tony Robbins is to never leave the scene of a decision without taking some kind of action towards it’s attainment. Even if it’s something small, just do something immediately as this build momentum and momentum will keep you going. An even better way of using this is to make a commitment that you cannot break – make that appointment with your boss to ask for a pay rise or book that appointment with a personal trainer. Don’t delay and don’t hesitate. Just act.

Commit and move forward. Not only will you feel a great sense of relief but you will also develop a sense of pride in using your ability to take action. Remember, you are never stuck. There is always some small action that can make all the difference.
